Location: El Paso International Airport CONRAC Car Rental Facility, El Paso, TX

This large-scale public art piece is suspended in an expansive double height atrium in El Paso airport's car rental facility. Dichroic acrylic shapes are suspended in a mandala-like form that is drawn from traditional patterns related to the various ethnic groups that have contributed to the rich and diverse cultural heritage of El Paso. The nature of dichroic acrylic allows one color of light to pass through the material while another color is reflected back off the piece. The sculpture, which was lit with LED theatrical fixtures, is beautiful on its own, but the muticolored shapes of light which appear on the floor, walls and ceiling around the expansive atrium allow the art piece to take on a much larger and dynamic presence.
